Paper Abstract:      The drug-therapy needs up-to-date and reliable information. The target of that information is to know the most suitable drug or the alternatives for its use. The information must cover the needs of the actors who take part into the pharmacotherapeutic process: physicians, pharmacists, nurses (professional profiles) and citizens or patients (lay profile). However, we must take into consideration the large amount of existing resources of pharmaceutical information. These resources are diverse in their structure, content and the language the information is written in. The immediate consequence is the discrepancy between the data, mainly due to the lack of explanation of their meaning, that is, there is a lack of semantic interoperability. This limitation is tried to be overcome with the use of ontologies. In order to establish the level of reuse of an ontology it is needed to know, in advance, the quality of representation given. This paper presents the methodology for assessing the adequacy of the content represented in OntoFIS (ontology built for pharmacology therapeutics domain), using competency questions adjusted to the real needs of end-users. It is shown the qualitative assessment of the syntax and structure of the OntoFIS’ representation in OWL-DL, and the quantitative evaluation of OntoFIS, from the appropriateness of its content because of the accuracy of the inferred answers. Finally, the quality indicators of OntoFIS for semantic interoperability and future work are briefly described in conclusions.
